EHS Engineer
What will you do?
As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer, you will serve as a hands-on transformational leader who champions a proactive culture where safety, environmental stewardship, and employee well-being are foundational to how work is performed every day.
By building strong relationships, listening with compassion, and partnering across all levels of the organization, you will drive meaningful improvements that reduce risk, ensure compliance, and empower employees to work safely and confidently.
Success in this position requires a hands-on change agent who can influence stakeholders, drive accountability, and translate EHS strategy into practical solutions that protect people, support business objectives, and elevate organizational performance.
You will play a critical role in shaping the future of the site's safety culture while advancing regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and environmental sustainability.
Responsibilities:
* Promote, track, and report leading safety indicators at all organizational levels, including Stop Work Authority Events, EHS suggestions, hazard identification, inspections, risk assessments, observations, and employee engagement activities.
* Support and maintain the site's Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001) certifications, including internal audits, corrective action management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Collect, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics, trends, and leading/lagging safety indicators to support management reviews and drive continuous improvement.
* Assist with the implementation of EHS policies, practices, guidelines, and procedures.Identify location-specific requirements for each area and participate in the development of related programs and policies.
* Assist in developing training programs and conduct training to comply with regulatory corporate EHS initiatives; partnering with site training coordinators.
* Coordinate incident/accident investigation process including root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed.
* Participate during external EHS compliance audits and loss prevention audits.
* Coordinate the completion of all corrective actions with site personnel (i.e., engineering, maintenance, production, etc.) resulting from risk assessments, compliance audits or loss prevention audits.
* Assist with environmental (EPA) compliance activities, required permitting submissions, and/or monitoring for air, water, and land jurisdictional requirements.
* Partner with site ergonomic consultants to identify ergonomic risks, implement solutions, and reduce musculoskeletal injury exposure.
* Deliver EHS training and awareness programs to employees, contractors, supervisors, and leadership teams.
