Summary:TheSchool-Based Behavioral Health Liaison (SBBHL) plays a vital role in promoting mental health and wellness among students.
The SBBHL supports schools in implementing trauma-informed practices and behavioral health interventions for students at risk of developing emotional, behavioral, or substance use disorders; this includes individual and group counseling, teacher consultation, and fostering strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community.
The SBBHL is embedded within school settings to deliver mental health services and provide psycho-educational to enhance the overall learning environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for fulfilling all duties related to emergency preparedness, evacuation, and client safety, including support of individuals who may not be capable of self-preservation,in accordance withTN Voices Employee Policies and TN State Department regulations and CARF Standards.
Direct Services: Provide individual, family, and group counseling to students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
Conduct mental health assessments, screenings, and evaluations, andfacilitatepsychoeducational groups on topics such as coping strategies, stress management, and mental health awareness.
Offer crisis intervention services and make referrals foradditionalsupportsas needed.
Support for Teachers and School Staff: Consult with teachers to createtrauma-informed, positive classroom environments.
Deliver training and education on mental health issues,trauma-informedpractices, substance abuse prevention, andde-escalationstrategies.
Assistin the development ofschool-widemental health initiatives and universal prevention strategies.
Liaison Services: Act as a liaison between schools, families, and community agencies to ensure coordinated care for students.
Facilitate communication between teachers and families to support students behavioral and mental health needs.
Participate in school meetings, such as IEP or 504 planning, to advocate for students mental health services.
Documentation and Compliance: Maintaintimelyandaccuratedocumentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, and reports, tocomply withgrant and organizational requirements.
Monitor service outcomes and ensure alignment with state regulations and program standards.
