FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECH 1/LOCKSMITH APPRENTICE
Educa Position Overview This position is designed as an apprenticeship and development opportunity within the Districts Maintenance Department.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Districts current Locksmith to learn and develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies necessary to assume locksmith-related duties and responsibilities in the future.
The position will receive on-the-job training and hands-on experience in building maintenance, locksmithing, door and hardware systems, and related skilled trades.
As the employee gains experience, demonstrates proficiency, and successfully completes the required training and development, there may be opportunities for advancement to a Maintenance Technician II or Maintenance Technician III position.
Advancement will be based on the employees qualifications, demonstrated skills and competencies, completion of required training, and the availability of an appropriate position within the District.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Qualifications: Basic knowledge of building maintenance practices and repair techniques.
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, and district vehicles.
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with limited supervision.
Effective communication and customer service skills.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: General Maintenance Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs in district facilities.
Assist with preventative maintenance activities on building systems and equipment.
Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
Assist with setup and teardown for school and district events as needed.
Identify and report safety concerns, facility issues, and maintenance needs.
Building and Equipment Support Perform basic repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring, doors, hardware, and locks.
Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, and other routine building components.
Assist with snow removal, sanding, salting, and grounds maintenance activities.
Operate maintenance equipment, hand tools, and district vehicles safely.
Assist skilled trades personnel with larger maintenance and repair projects.
Safety and Compliance Follow district safety procedures and applicable regulations.
Maintain compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.
Respond appropriately to emergency maintenance situations.
Promote a positive and professional relationship with staff, students, and the public.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand.
