Mental Health Specialist-Richmond, VA and Surrounding Areas
What You'll DoIn this role, you'll provide individualized, community-based services to clients experiencing mental and/or behavioral health symptoms.
Depending on program needs, your work may include:
* Providing Intensive In-Home, Mental Health Skill Building, Therapeutic Mentoring, Virtual Residential, and Life Skills services
* Working directly with individuals and families during weekly sessions
* Helping clients develop practical skills and strategies to achieve greater stability and independence
* Conducting individual, family, and group sessions
* Developing individualized service plans with measurable goals and objectives
* Connecting clients and families with appropriate services and community resources
* Supporting clients through behavioral challenges, conflict, and crises
* Collaborating with families, referral sources, supervisors, and other members of the treatment team
* Maintaining timely and accurate documentation of services provided
The position combines direct client support with service planning, coordination, documentation, and ongoing communication with the individuals and agencies involved in each client's care.What We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who can connect with people, remain calm under pressure, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Successful candidates should have:
* Knowledge of mental and behavioral health disorders and interventions
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* An ability to work from a strengths-based perspective
* Experience or knowledge of crisis de-escalation and conflict resolution
* The ability to develop rapport with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds
* Strong organization and documentation skills
* The ability to make sound decisions in challenging situations
* The flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed
* The ability to participate in on-call crisis intervention
* Basic computer skills and a phone with email capability
These requirements reflect the position's emphasis on independent community work, crisis response, family engagement, and timely documentation.Minimum QualificationCandidates must, at minimum, meet Virginia DMAS/DBHDS requirements for a Qualified Mental Health Professional-Trainee (QMHP-T) and be actively working toward attaining QMHP-C and/or QMHP-A status.Driving & Community TravelBecause services are delivered in the community, candidates must have:
* A valid driver's license
* A good driving record
* Reliable transportation
* The ability to travel up to 60 miles with a passenger
