Refrigeration Technician II

What You'll Do

You will observe, learn, and assist with basic repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the warehouse including doors, dock levelers, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, pallet trucks, and electrical work in accordance with OSHA standards.

You will participate in assigned training, maintain tools and machinery, conduct safety equipment tests, and keep accurate preventive maintenance records while performing housekeeping duties as required.

Essential Functions


* Observe, learn, and assist with basic repairs and adjustments of warehouse equipment and systems in accordance with OSHA standards.


* Attend and participate in all assigned training sessions as directed.


* Clean, change, and lubricate machinery parts using appropriate tools and methods.


* Maintain tools, machinery, and shop areas in clean and operational condition.


* Conduct tests of safety equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.


* Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records and assist with answering security alarm calls as needed.


* Perform housekeeping duties and keep work areas organized according to established standards.


* Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.

What Experience and Education You Need


* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.


* Basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude required.


* Mathematical and documentation skills required.


* Basic computer skills required including email, internet searches, and basic data entry.


* May be expected to participate in HAZMAT responder training.

* Vocational or technical certification or training preferred.


* Prior maintenance or mechanical experience preferred.


* Ability to clearly convey information and collaborate effectively with team members.


* Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations.


* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.


* Must be able to work flexible shifts including on call.

Physical Requirements


* Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation).



* Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft.

(9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs.



* Able to work in confined areas.



* Able to climb ladders and stairs.



* Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.



* Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.



* Able to operate hand and power tools safely.



* Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
