Service Technician - Security Systems

JOB OVERVIEW The Commercial Service Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to ongoing maintenance and testing of security and fire alarms, access control, and CCTV systems.

Travel is required for this position.

You will travel to client locations when equipment is down.

The Commercial Service Technician reports to the Service Manager and serves as a member of the Operations team.

This position supports the needs and activities of supervisors/managers and must be able to display a friendly and helpful attitude while working with fellow associates and clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibility of this position is to perform several duties pertaining to the service and testing of low voltage cabling, and security and fire alarms, access control, CCTV systems.

Know how to read schematics, layouts, and floorplans to complete repairs.Run wiring and circuits, install hardware, and attach electrical wires.Inspects and tests systems, batteries, and electrical wiring; adjusts and repairs as required.Replaces malfunctioning hardware when necessary.Ensures systems comply with electrical and fire codes.Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, floors, and other areas as required.Build and wire network racks for equipment.Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls.Position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping.Mount and fasten control panels and other security equipment, including but not limited to camera equipment and access control equipment.Explains and demonstrates system function and operation to end users.Evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot products and systems, and perform repairs as necessary.Prepares written reports and documentation of service.Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and completing assignments.Attend meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of furthering information required to perform job functions.Keep informed of new products and developments.Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent required.Vocational/technical school training highly preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.Two years of related experience preferred.Extensive knowledge of security and fire alarm systems and installation.
