Production Lead - 2nd Shift
Summary The Production Lead is a hands-on frontline leader responsible for directing the daily activities of General Handlers and ensuring production work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
This role translates the Supervisors operating plan into work assignments, monitors team performance, provides training and coaching, and resolves routine workflow, staffing, inventory, and quality issues.
The Production Lead may coordinate multiple work areas and temporarily oversee operations in the Supervisors absence.
Key Responsibilities Assign employees to tasks based on production priorities, staffing, training, and operational needs.Communicate daily goals, work instructions, safety requirements, and changes in priorities.Monitor productivity, quality, attendance, workflow, and adherence to standard procedures.Adjust labor and resources within the assigned operation as workload and conditions change.Provide hands-on training, direction, and immediate coaching to new and existing employees.Identify and resolve routine production, inventory, packaging, labeling, staffing, and workflow issues.Escalate significant safety, quality, performance, equipment, or employee-related concerns to the Supervisor.Coordinate work and operational handoffs with Quality, Inventory, Shipping, Receiving, and other departments.Provide accurate and objective employee performance observations to the Supervisor.Support opening, closing, shift transitions, and temporary oversight of operations when assigned.Perform and support General Handler duties, including box building, product packing, labeling, pallet organization, wrapping, staging, and material handling.Inspect products and packaging for defects, inaccuracies, damage, or failure to meet company and customer standards.Ensure employees follow safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and maintain clean and organized work areas.Maintain production records, counts, checklists, and other required documentation.Promote teamwork, accountability, respectful communication, and continuous improvement.Perform additional operational or facility-support duties assigned by Management.
Experience and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, packaging, fulfillment, or distribution environment.Previous experience directing work, training employees, or coordinating production activities preferred.Ability to organize work, assign priorities, adjust resources, and maintain control in a fast-paced environment.Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to provide clear instruction and constructive coaching while maintaining professionalism.Proficiency in English and bilingual proficiency in Spanish are required.
