Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, treating, and monitoring residents with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions.

This position plays a key role in providing therapeutic interventions, pulmonary rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing respiratory care in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.

What You'll Do


* Assess residents to identify respiratory care needs and develop individualized treatment plans.


* Administer respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and other prescribed pulmonary interventions.


* Monitor residents for changes in respiratory status and promptly communicate concerns to physicians and the interdisciplinary care team.


* Perform respiratory assessments and document findings accurately and thoroughly.


* Assist with pulmonary rehabilitation and patient education when appropriate.


* Operate, monitor, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment while ensuring proper infection control practices.


* Respond appropriately to respiratory emergencies and provide critical respiratory support as needed.


* Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, dietary, social services, and other departments to provide coordinated resident care.


* Follow all federal, state, and facility policies related to respiratory care, infection prevention, resident safety, and HIPAA compliance.


* Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all treatments and resident responses.


* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications


* Current Respiratory Therapist (RT) license or certification in good standing, as required by California regulations.


* Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.


* Previous experience in skilled nursing, sub-acute care, long-term care, or acute care is preferred.


* Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.


* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
