Agricultural Loan Officer

The Agricultural Loan Officer is primarily responsible for managing and growing a loan portfolio for farms and agribusinesses.

This role evaluates loan applications, analyzes the financials, and actively participates in business development while maintaining strong relationships with loan customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Loan Evaluation: Evaluate financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to determine applicant's ability to repay a loan.

· Farm Visits: Travel to farms to inspect land, crops, equipment, and livestock used as collateral for a loan.

· Business Growth: Help clients find the right credit options for land purchases, operating costs, or equipment.

· Portfolio Management: Track active loans and manage any delinquent loans by assisting with collection efforts as needed.

· Loan Structuring: Design customized lines of credit, equipment purchases, and real estate loans for farm operations.

· Cross-Selling: Identify opportunities to expand customer relationships by introducing customers to all Somerset Trust Company products and services.

· Business Development: Build new business through networking, referrals, and representing Somerset Trust Company at events and organizations.

· Compliance: Ensure compliance by adhering to all internal policies, procedures, and banking regulations.

· Collaboration: Positively collaborate with other lenders, credit analysts, loan processors, and other bank departments.

· Understand and support all BSA/AML responsibilities as applicable to the position as well as consistently, accurately, and timely carry out these responsibilities in compliance with the Bank's internal policies · Perform other related work and duties as assigned Education and/or Experience · Bachelor's degree in agriculture business, finance, accounting or economics.

· Three to five years of commercial credit analysis or commercial lending experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS · Experience using DNA is preferred, but not required.

· Proficient in using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook · Must be willing to learn new systems and adapt to emerging technologies LANGUAGE SKILLS · Ability to read interpret documents such as procedure manuals and release notes · Ability to write business correspondence, and policies using proper grammar and accurate spelling MATHEMATICAL SKILLS · Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, bonuses, etc.
