PRN: On-Call, All shifts available, Weekend availability needed
Wage: $19.70-$25.70/hr DOE

Job Summary
The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.

Responsibilities:


* Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.


* Administer accurately and timely.


* Record medications administered in the resident's record.


* Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled.


* Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.


* Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services.


* Obtain/provide shift report.

Record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.


* Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident's needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned.


* Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents' needs


* Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.


* Document information pertaining to changes in residents' status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record.


* Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy


* Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.


* Participate in in-service education programs as assigned.


* Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.


* Follow written and oral directions.


* Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.


* Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision.


* Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers.


* Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.


* Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.


* Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements:


* Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.


* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.


* Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card.


* Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
