Job Summary

Certified Medication Aide (CMA) assists in administering medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring correct dosages, times, and documentation, while also providing basic nursing care and monitoring resident well-being

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Medication Administration:


* Administer oral and topical medications as prescribed by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.


* Ensure the correct medication, dosage, and time are administered.


* Document medication administration accurately, including dosage, time, and resident response.


* Maintain accurate records of medication administration.


* Report any adverse reactions or side effects to the supervising nurse.

Basic Nursing Care:


* Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility.


* Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse.


* Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.

Resident Care and Safety:


* Ensure the safety and comfort of residents.


* Answer residents' call lights and respond to their needs promptly.


* Maintain a clean and organized environment.


* Follow established healthcare standards and practices.

Communication and Documentation:


* Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff.


* Document resident care and medication administration accurately and thoroughly.


* Report any changes in resident condition or concerns to the supervising nurse.

Other Duties:


* May assist with other nursing tasks as assigned by the supervising nurse.


* Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.


* Maintain confidentiality of resident information.

Requirements:
Requirements and Qualifications


* Licensed Certified Medication Aide in the State this position is held in.


* Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS during employment.


* Prefer experience in long term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute and or critical care clinical setting.


* Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
