General Maintenance Worker

Job Description: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities: Monitor and operate building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.

Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.

Respond promptly to tenant service requests and building issues, ensuring timely resolution.

Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

Respond promptly to building emergencies, including but not limited to power outages, HVAC failures, plumbing leaks, and other facility-related issues, ensuring swift resolution to minimize disruptions and maintain operational safety.

Perform light carpentry tasks and painting as required.

Must be available to work after hours and overtime as needed to ensure continuous facility operations.

Participate in emergency preparedness drills and procedures.

Ensure compliance with fire safety systems, including alarm testing and emergency power systems, etc.

Work closely with the facilities team, property management, and contractors.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in HVAC, mechanical, or electrical systems preferred.

Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems required.

3+ years of experience in facility maintenance required.

The ability to fit solder and braze pipe up to 2 inches preferred.

Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy management controls preferred.

City of White Plains Refrigeration License preferred.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics required.

Applicable vocational training certifications preferred.

Approved fire safety course certificate preferred.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Good communication and customer service abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment: Subject to hazards including but not limited to chemicals, noisy environments, varying temperatures.

May be required to use step stools, ladders, and mobile work platforms in the performance of their duties.
