Teacher Assistant

Teacher Assistant(Union) Location: 7240 Erie Street, Sylvania, OH 43560 Schedule: Monday - Thursday (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM) Weekly Hours: 34 hours per week (August - June) Employment Type: Seasonal Full-Time Pay Rate: $18.00 - $19.61 per hour, based on education Position Overview: Provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool children.

Support daily classroom activities, assist with implementing lesson plans, and ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable regulations.

Per Head Start requirements, Teacher Assistants must also meet one of the following: Hold a CDA credential (or equivalent state-awarded certificate)Be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hireBe enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelors degree Experience: Early childhood development or related childcare experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with implementing developmentally appropriate activities and strategies which support the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of preschool children.Assist with providing an age-appropriate learning environment that allows for individual differences.

Assist with promoting and encouraging a positive learning environment and nurturing teacher child interactions.Substitute for teaching staff; assist with classroom activities.Organize, sanitize and store classroom equipment and supplies.Recruit and direct volunteers.Assist in conducting 2 educational home visits per child per year.Maintain accurate records and submit records as requested.Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
