Underwriter, Environmental

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Objective:To effectively execute the Westchester Environmental unit strategy for our package and monoline business.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:


* Solicits new and renewal submissions from brokers


* Determines terms and conditions and complex rating plans


* Quotes/Binds coverage


* Documents the underwriting files


* Develop/maintain internal/external client relationships.


* Takes ownership of given production goals and utilizes all available department resources to achieve said goals.

QUALIFICATIONS



* Bachelors degree


* Minimum 1 year of experience preferably within underwriting


* Knowledge of the insurance industry


* Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures


* Experience in underwriting environmental lines of business is preferred.

This includes but is not limited to the following coverage lines: Commercial General Liability, Contractors Pollution Liability, Professional Liability, Site Pollution Liability, Excess Liability, Business Auto

Good Level of Underwriting Knowledge including:


* Exposure Analysis and Forms & Coverages


* Rating Principles and Mechanics


* Proficiency in Typing and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)


* Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills


* Strong Organizational skills with attention to detail


* Proven Broker Relations & Customer Management skill set


* Ability to work effectively in a team


* Negotiation & Presentation Skills


* Strong Business Acumen


* Experience working in the E&S/wholesale market space is ideal

The pay range for the role is $82,000 to $118,000.

The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors.

This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
