Lift Operator (Full-Time, Seasonal) - Winter 26/27

SUMMARY Lift Operators are responsible for operating chairlifts and conveyor lifts in accordance with department policies and training programs, as well as validating lift tickets and managing traffic flow around lift stations.

Lift Operators perform and document routine inspections and checks; operate the lift's controls; monitor, assist, and direct passengers during loading, riding, and unloading of lifts; monitor lift machinery for abnormal operations; and respond appropriately to emergency situations.

Additionally, Lift Operators ensure guests have a valid lift ticket to ride the lift; perform basic troubleshooting of ticket issues; and manage traffic through lift queue areas.

Lift Operators use a variety of hand and power tools such as shovels, rakes, snowblowers, drills, picks, and ice chippers to maintain snow surfaces around lift stations and on loading/unloading platforms.

Lift Operators interact with guests to provide exceptional guest service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following.

Reports to work in appropriate uniform and follow grooming/appearance standards.

Attend daily meetings and participate in safety discussions and training.

Ensures that mechanical components of the lift are functioning properly by checking and performing routine inspections and notifying Lift Maintenance personnel of abnormalities.

Perform routine inspections and complete checklist tasks to prepare lifts for passenger operations.

Set up lift mazes at the beginning of each day and assist with maintenance of the maze area throughout the day.

Disassemble and store maze materials at the end of the day.

Maintains snow surfaces around lift mazes, loading areas, terminal areas, unloading ramps, and operator stations utilizing a variety of hand and power tools.

Common tools include shovels, scoops, rakes, ice picks, pickaxes, power drills, snowblowers, etc.

Monitors the condition of the loading/unloading ramps throughout the operating day and perform maintenance and repair as needed.

Operates lifts according to established procedures outlined in the Lift Operations Manual and training programs.

Understands the use of the lift's controls, fault displays, and emergency procedures.

Be able to clearly communicate fault indications and information to the dispatcher and Lift Maintenance personnel.

Assists and directs passengers during queuing, loading, riding, and unloading lifts.

Responds appropriately to passengers needing assistance, slowing or stopping the lift if necessary.

Assists guests unloading the lift by visually observing and monitoring the unloading station and providing verbal instructions when needed.

Retrieves dropped skis, poles, clothing or other belongings for guests.

Monitors operation of the lift and communicate concerns or problems to supervisors and Lift Maintenance personnel.
