Sr Director of Software Engineering - Insurance

As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Bank Small Business team, you will lead engineering teams to build AI-native solutions from the ground up-embedding AI coding tools, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered capabilities into every layer of the platform-while transforming team culture to operate with speed and experimentation as AI tooling evolves.

Your exceptional communication and influencing abilities will foster productive relationships with executive stakeholders, ensuring alignment, effective risk management, and high-confidence operational delivery.

Job responsibilities


* Drive the technical strategy and delivery of a new digital insurance platform, embedding AI-native capabilities (agentic workflows, LLM-powered features) into core product experiences


* Responsible for directing and managing all aspects of technology delivery


* Leads multiple technology implementations across departments to achieve firmwide technology objectives


* Directly manages multiple areas with strategic transactional focus


* Sets and scales multi-department strategy for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) to drive firmwide objectives (speed, scalability, reliability, and cost-to-serve), including portfolio-level standards for AI-orchestrated delivery workflows, release governance, automated test modernization, resilience engineering, and incident response acceleration; establishes guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, traceability, and reuse


* Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to drive cross-domain reuse and measurable capacity unlock outcomes across departments


* Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives


* Manage multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations


* Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Proven track record using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.) to accelerate development cycles, and ability to coach teams to adopt these tools as standard practice
