Position Overview

Heavy Road Construction Equipment Operators is a skilled poition which supports heavy civil and highway construction projects.

This position is responsible for operating a variety of heavy construction equipment used in roadway, site development, grading, excavation, utility, and paving operations.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, equipment care, quality workmanship, and teamwork while contributing to the successful completion of construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


* Operate heavy construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner, including but not limited to motor graders, excavators, dozers, loaders, rollers, scrapers, backhoes, skid steers, and haul trucks.


* Perform grading, excavation, earthmoving, roadway construction, aggregate placement, and site preparation activities.


* Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, blueprints, and GPS machine control systems.


* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required equipment inspection reports.


* Monitor equipment performance and promptly report maintenance needs, mechanical issues, or safety concerns.


* Maintain production and quality standards while meeting project schedules and deadlines.


* Work closely with supervisors, forepersons, truck drivers, survey crews, and other team members to ensure efficient project execution.


* Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, MSHA (where applicable), and DOT regulations.


* Assist with labor activities when equipment operation is not required.


* Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas.


* Ensure proper protection of underground and overhead utilities during excavation and grading operations.


* Participate in safety meetings, trainings, and company-sponsored programs.


* Adapt to changing project requirements and work assignments as needed.


* Travel between job sites as required.


* Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
