Union Driver
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Union position at Anchor Central.
Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:00pm.
Job Function: The Union Driver is responsible for operating machinery and driving trucks up to 58,000 lbs.
This role includes loading and unloading trucks with accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew, and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports daily.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
Secure cargo for transport, using straps, blocks, load bars, etc.
Drive trucks through weigh stations to document weights and comply with state regulations.
Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons to transport and deliver products or other materials.
Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
Operate equipment, such as telephones, to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
Maintain cleanliness of the interior cab and cargo area.
Read and interpret maps to determine the most efficient vehicle routes.
Complete Machine Inspection Sheet for Electric Pallet Jack.
Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles, and using other equipment, as necessary.
Verify piece counts.
Other duties as assigned.

Communicates clearly and effectively.
Ability to operate machinery/equipment with safety as the priority.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: This position requires repetitive movement; frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and extended periods of sitting.
The role also involves telephone and face-to-face communication, accuracy, meeting strict deadlines, responsibility for the health and safety of others, working in a closed vehicle or equipment, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Education and Experience: Education: High School/G.E.D License, Certificate or Registration: Class B License, D.O.T.
