Accountant

Payroll AccountantPosition Location: Baltimore, MDSchedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pmSalary: $65,000 - $75,000 annuallyJoin the Chimes team and help make an impact through accurate financial stewardship.What You'll DoAs our Payroll Accountant, you will:


* Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries.


* Review payroll taxes and ensure timely and accurate tax payments.


* Review federal and state payroll tax filings for accuracy and compliance.


* Post payroll activity to the general ledger.


* Reconcile payroll bank accounts and assigned general ledger accounts.


* Prepare payroll accruals and month-end journal entries.


* Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting.


* Perform payroll-related variance analysis.


* Support internal and external audits.


* Process state unemployment payments for multiple entities.


* Assist with other accounting and finance projects as needed.

What You'll BringEducation


* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Experience


* Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.


* Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred.

Skills & Qualifications


* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll accounting.


* Intermediate Microsoft Office skills with advanced Excel proficiency.


* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.


* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


* Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, especially during month-end close.


* Excellent organizational and time management skills.


* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.


* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
