Performance Lab Chemist
SUMMARY: Results-driven Laboratory Chemist specializing in oilfield production chemistry, with expertise in corrosion and scale evaluation under simulated field conditions.
Experienced in designing, executing, and interpreting complex dynamic and static laboratory tests that are predominantly intellectual in nature and require the consistent exercise of discretion and professional scientific judgment to support chemical product development and field performance optimization.
Recognized as an independent thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities who routinely evaluates alternatives, makes reasoned technical decisions, and applies professional judgment in non-routine situations related to corrosion and scale inhibition performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, conduct, and interpret corrosion and scale inhibition testing using dynamic and static methodologies.
Operate and maintain specialized equipment including Rotating Cylinder Electrode (RCE), Linear Polarization Resistance (LPR), Rotating Cage Autoclave (RCA), and Dynamic Scale Loop (DSL) systems.
Perform static bottle tests for scale inhibition, compatibility, and chemical screening.
Perform other various specialized testing including cold finger testing, FTIR, and various other bench chemistry methods in support of analysis, troubleshooting, and development.
Analyze electrochemical data to determine corrosion rates and inhibitor performance.
Simulate field conditions (HPHT, flow regimes, brine compositions) to evaluate chemical effectiveness.
Interpret experimental results and provide guidance for product selection and optimization.
Troubleshoot test anomalies and refine procedures to improve data quality and repeatability.
Collaborate with field engineers, sales teams, and R&D to support customer projects.
Maintain detailed laboratory records, reports, and data integrity in compliance with company standards.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of hazardous chemicals.
Experimental design and troubleshooting.
Data interpretation and technical reporting.
Independent problem-solving and critical thinking.
Ability to prioritize effectiveness and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsible for performing job duties in compliance with RCRA hazardous waste requirements, including proper handling, labeling, storage, and management of hazardous waste in accordance with applicable procedures and training.
