Carpenter (Nights)
JOB SUMMARY The Carpenter is responsible for building, assembling, and maintaining custom wood and steel forms (molds) used in the production of precast concrete products.
This role is critical to ensuring accurate dimensions, smooth finishes, and structural integrity of all molds.
The Carpenter reports to the Shop Foreman.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to construct forms for precast concrete products Safely build custom molds from wood, plywood, steel, and plastic using hand and power tools Measure, cut, and assemble mold components with precision and within tight tolerances Maintain and repair existing forms, including resurfacing or reinforcing where needed Ensure molds are clean, structurally sound, and ready for concrete pouring Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to resolve form-related issues Operate woodworking machinery (saws, drills, routers, planers, etc.) and hand tools safely and efficiently Keep the carpenter shop clean, organized, and safe Follow all company safety protocols and procedures SKILLS & ABILITIES High school diploma or equivalent Valid DL with clear driving record 3+ years relevant experience Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong time management skills Ability to work independently or with a team FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires constant (70-100%) standing, lifting up to 50lbs, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, use hands to finger, hearing (listening) and observing (vision), hand/eye coordination and walking.
Requires frequent (40-69%) climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching and occasional (0-39%) sitting.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust and focus.
This position is subject to onsite hazards including but not limited to moving industrial equipment, hazardous energies (LOTO), climbing ladders, working at heights, working on uneven or unimproved surfaces and areas of high noise levels, may operate hand and power tools (electric, gas & pneumatic) of all types.
Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
May be required to work in confined spaces.
Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
Candidate must be able to be medically qualified by a NON-DOT or other job specific physical.
