Reconstruction Project Director
Position Overview The Reconstruction Project Director (PD) is responsible for the end-to-end leadership of reconstruction projects, with full accountability for financial performance, client experience, and project outcomes.
The Project Director serves as the primary owner of scope, budget, margin, and client communication, ensuring reconstruction projects are delivered profitably, compliantly, and to Kustom standards.
This role partners closely with Superintendents and field leadership to align execution with approved scope, schedule, and budget while proactively managing risk, change, and stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities Financial & Contract Ownership Develop, finalize, and manage scopes of work and estimates, including Xactimate documentationOwn project budgets, margin performance, forecasting, and cost controlsReview and approve change orders, supplements, and pricing adjustmentsParticipate in Work-in-Progress (WIP) reviews and revenue forecastingEnsure projects are prepared for final invoicing and successful closeout Client & Stakeholder Leadership Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, carriers, and key stakeholdersSet and manage customer expectations throughout the project lifecycleLead issue resolution and client escalations as neededMaintain strong relationships that drive customer satisfaction and repeat business Project Oversight & Coordination Partner with Superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with approved scope and budgetIdentify project risks and implement corrective actions to protect outcomesApprove deviations from standard protocols when required to ensure project successEnsure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company standards Operational & Strategic Contribution Own overall project outcomes and performancePrioritize resources across multiple projects in partnership with Operations leadershipSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on margin, efficiency, and delivery quality Competencies & Skills Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and marginAdvanced knowledge of reconstruction estimating and scope developmentExcellent client communication and stakeholder management skillsSound judgment and decision-making under pressureAbility to manage multiple projects and competing prioritiesProficiency with Xactimate and project documentation systems Qualifications 35+ years of experience in construction and/or restoration project leadershipDemonstrated experience managing project financials and customer relationshipsExperience working with insurance carriers and adjusters preferredStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsValid drivers license in accordance with company policy Physical Requirements & Working Conditions This role operates in a combination of office and active job-site environments.
