Facilities Supervisor (Watt Ave.)
Position Overview The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, security, and operational readiness of homeless shelter facilities.
This position ensures that all buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems are maintained in a safe, functional, and welcoming condition for clients, employees, volunteers, and community partners.
The Facilities Supervisor oversees preventative maintenance programs, repairs, vendor management, regulatory compliance, safety initiatives, and facility improvement projects while supporting the organization's mission of providing safe and dignified shelter to individuals experiencing homelessness.
This position works closely with shelter leadership to minimize operational disruptions and maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and funding agency requirements.
The Facilities Supervisor may be assigned additional duties as needed to support program goals and agency operations.
This includes collaborating with other departments and taking direction from other supervisors or managers as appropriate.
Expected Hours and Place of Work: The incumbent works full-time, primarily at our Watt Ave.
Safe Stay Community Shelter where the typical office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm, and some evenings and weekends as necessary for optimal business function.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Facility Operations Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of shelter facilities, administrative offices, and surrounding grounds.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all building systems, equipment, and vehicles (if applicable).
Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
Coordinate emergency repairs to minimize disruptions to shelter operations.
Ensure all facilities remain clean, safe, functional, and presentable.
Oversight of the kitchen and some kitchen duties involved.
Inventory, ordering, purchasing of supplies.
Administrative Support Audit all case management systems and files for timely data entry and quality Track all MCP and Referral trackers for recordkeeping Effectively communicate with City Net departments to ensure efficient service delivery Communicate with team when additional documentation or correction is needed Maintenance Management Supervise maintenance personnel and custodial staff, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
Assign and prioritize maintenance work orders.
Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
Develop maintenance procedures and standard operating practices.
Monitor completion of work orders to ensure quality and timeliness.
Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations, local fire codes, health department requirements, ADA standards, and applicable building codes.
