Electro-Mechanical Technician

JOB SUMMARY: The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for applying power to newly assembled machines, commissioning electrical and control systems, and verifying proper machine operation prior to customer shipment.

This role works closely with the Software Engineering department to load, configure, and troubleshoot machine software, ensuring seamless integration between electrical, mechanical, and control systems.

The technician performs functional testing and executes established test programs to validate machine performance, accuracy, and reliability.

Equipment may include CNC plasma cutting, oxyfuel cutting, laser cutting, and machining systems.

The Electro-Mechanical Technician documents test results, identifies and resolves issues, and ensures each machine meets company quality standards and specified performance requirements before release.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform final inspection and testing of all systems on Messer Cutting Systems produced machines to ensure acceptable standards of performance, appearance and quality and to ensure compliance with machine order specifications.Ability to detect, troubleshoot, and identify solutions for machine defects.

Communicates with other departments effectively to ensure timely completion of corrective actions.Thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronics and fluid power principles, plus knowledge of advanced inspection techniques.Complete necessary documentation form to ensure all proper tests and checks have been completed.Perform repair operations on rejected or field return units to meet company quality standards and specified performance requirements.Read electrical schematics, machine layout blueprints, customer installation prints, work orders, engineering specification sheets and printed circuit board samples.Use a variety of mechanical and electronic test equipment such as, but not limited to, oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, micrometers, dial indicators, veneers, etc.Perform product qualification tests for and in the presence of customers.Occasionally provide phone support to end customers to resolve field issues.Occasionally perform mechanical and/or electrical assembly tasks or facility maintenance tasks as needed to support the needs of the Company.Comply with all Messer Cutting Systems safety and housekeeping policies.Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)1 or more years of related CNC repair and troubleshooting experience and/or training KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Advanced computer skillsAdvanced Electrical circuit knowledge PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT: Steel-toe shoes (required)Eye protection (required)Hearing protection (not required but available) WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
