Fire Protection Engineer

We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team.

As a member of our team, you will work in a schedule-driven, collaborative environment, working closely with our clients and reporting to the Team Lead.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and designers to develop fire protection and life safety design packages for industrial projects.

Fire protection will be the primary responsibility for this role; however, you may also be cross-trained to support mechanical engineering scopes as project needs and workload allow.

As a Fire Protection Engineer at Eichleay, you will apply your knowledge of fire protection systems, fire and building codes, industrial facility requirements, and mechanical engineering fundamentals to support practical, code-compliant design solutions.

This role requires the ability to work independently on defined fire protection scope while coordinating closely with multi-discipline project teams.

Compensation: $115 - $150,000

*anticipated annual salary may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications and internal peer equity.  The pay range listed for this position is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of the posting. 

Work Arrangement: This position is fully remote.

Preference will be given to candidates located within 50 miles of an Eichleay office (Larkspur, CA; Orange, CA; Billings, MT; or Ferndale, WA) to support occasional in-person collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:


* Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental requirements while supporting safe project execution.


* Develop fire protection and life safety design deliverables for industrial facilities, including studies, calculations, specifications, drawings, and construction packages.


* Evaluate fire hazards and develop practical fire protection design solutions that meet applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project objectives.


* Design and review fire suppression systems, perform hydraulic calculations, and evaluate water supply requirements for fire protection systems.


* Develop and review fire alarm, detection, notification, and related life safety system requirements in coordination with I&E and other disciplines.


* Perform code reviews and support compliance with applicable NFPA standards, IBC, IFC, local AHJ requirements, and client standards.


* Prepare technical specifications, support procurement packages, perform bid evaluations, and review vendor documentation for conformance with project requirements.
