Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities: 



* Deliver features end-to-end across the Synapse stack: React/Vite frontend, Node.js/Express/Apollo GraphQL backend, MongoDB/Elasticsearch data layer, and the surrounding Kubernetes deployment. 



* Operate AI coding tools (Claude Code, agentic workflows, LLM-assisted code review) as a first-class part of the workflow — write effective prompts, critically evaluate AI-generated diffs, and know when to override the model. 



* Contribute to HL7 v2 / FHIR / immunization data pipelines, including Kafka-based ingestion and Elasticsearch indexing. 



* Instrument new work with structured logging (Pino), OpenTelemetry tracing, and Prometheus metrics; debug across the Grafana / Tempo / Loki / Pyroscope stack. 



* Handle PHI safely — apply secure coding practices, use PII-safe span attributes, and flag security concerns during code review. 



* Participate in code review, both giving and receiving; provide constructive feedback on correctness, security, and observability. 



* Work independently on defined features and escalate blockers early; drive small-to-medium initiatives from concept to completion. 



* Troubleshoot across the deployment path: application code, MongoDB/Elasticsearch, Kafka consumer, and the Kubernetes / Helm / ArgoCD / Kargo pipeline.
