Consultant, Project Finance

Why This Role Matters
ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Specialist in Washington DC, Boston, MA or Annapolis, MD to join our Sustainable Finance team.
In this role, you will support clients in evaluating and managing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities across complex domestic and international projects, with a particular focus on Latin America.

Working alongside leading development finance institutions such as the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and International Finance Corporation (IFC), you will help deliver sustainable outcomes for projects spanning renewable energy, infrastructure, extractive industries, and low-carbon development.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Finance, Sustainable Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* 2-3 years (3–5+ years preferred) of consulting or related professional experience supporting sustainable finance, ESG, environmental management, international development, or similar fields.
* Understanding of international development frameworks and environmental policy processes.
* Familiarity with sustainability standards and frameworks such as:
+ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
+ IFC Performance Standards
+ World Bank Environmental and Social Framework
+ UN Guiding Principles
* Knowledge of emerging environmental and social issues, including climate change, natural resource management, biodiversity, and sustainability.
* Understanding of regulatory environments and environmental governance frameworks in the United States and/or Latin America.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.
* Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within project teams.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work products.
* Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
