Senior Engineering Technician

Engineering Technician - Product Transition Engineering, 1 st shift

Job Summary:

The role as a Product Transition Technician is focused on implementing tactics designed to establish new product lines.

Product Transition personnel are a critical means of collaboration between Product Development and Operations; and are members of each integrated product team.

The Product Transition Sr.

Technician will conduct engineering tests and lean six sigma analyses, design fixtures and processes, and build/evaluate prototypes.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting product, process and equipment issues, performing fault isolation, and working with complex machines or computer‑controlled systems.

The Technician will also assemble, adjust, repair, calibrate, and operate equipment using layout plans, blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals.

Meticulous documentation is essential, recording record process steps, results, findings, and communicate effectively with engineering staff, design leads, and facility personnel.

Other duties as required by the department manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tests and analyze data to support process development and optimization
• Troubleshoot processes and equipment, identifying root causes of issues
• Collaborate with Operations to ensure designs meet cost and manufacturability targets and to schedule use of production equipment
• Participate in peer reviews and contribute insights on manufacturing capability, potential failure modes, process controls, and process qualification

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of related hands‑on technical experience
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Effective written and verbal communication

• Effective interpersonal skills (team player) and trainer
• Ability to perform process engineering tasks appropriate to experience

• Soldering and electronics experience or certificate
• Ability to comply with OSHA, EPA, fire regulations, and company policies
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
• Computer literacy

Preferred Experience

• Vacuum technologies and semiconductor processing
• Clean room operations
• Night Vision goggle assembly and test; optics skills
• Familiarity with use of low power microscopes

• Mechanically and electrically capable, able to use hand tools, precision gauges and test equipment

• Lean Six Sigma certification: Green Belt or higher Why Roanoke, Virginia?
