Medical Simulation Technician
Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Medical Simulation Technician to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.
This position is 30 hours per week.
The Simulation Technician assists with simulation-based events and is responsible for operating and maintaining Nemours Institute for Clinical Excellence's (NICE) simulation-based technology, computer and audio/visual equipment.
The Simulation Technician works closely with NICE team members and simulation facilitators to produce high-quality simulation-based activities by supporting and assisting in role playing applications, props placement, and moulage set-up to create a realistic environment and experience.
The Simulation Technician will also 1) teach American Heart Association (AHA) and other simulation-based courses as applicable; 2) maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends and 3) assist the Medical Director of Simulation, Nemours Institute for Clinical Excellence as required.
* Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain simulation-based technologies, computers, audiovisual systems, and related equipment to support simulation-based activities and ensure reliable performance.
* Assist with role playing and moulage applications.
* Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed for simulation and generate inventory and utilization reports as requested.
* Engage in educational endeavors that support NICE's mission and operations, including instruction of American Heart Association (AHA) and other simulation-based courses as appropriate.
* Maintain current knowledge of simulation technologies, best practices, and emerging trends to support continuous improvement of simulation programs.
* Provide training and technical support to NICE team members, faculty, and other stakeholders in the effective use of simulation equipment and technology.
* Monitor cost-effective use of material resources and recommend purchases of simulation equipment and supplies.
* Facilitate preventive maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations.
Monitor scheduled maintenance to ensure that equipment is operational.
Work with manufacturers or vendors to correct equipment deficiencies to minimize down time.
* Support community outreach initiatives by participating in tours of the simulation center, assisting with recruitment efforts, participating in public relations activities, and contributing to community-based educational activities.
Job Requirements
* Associate degree is required.
* Minimum one year of healthcare experience/medical background is required.
* Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification through the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
* National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - Basic (NREMT-B) certification is preferred.
