What You'll Do


* Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and standardized recipes


* Ensure meals are prepared accurately for regular, therapeutic, and modified diets


* Prepare pureed and texture-modified foods as needed


* Follow portion control guidelines and maintain food quality standards


* Record food temperatures and ensure food safety compliance


* Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas


* Clean cooking equipment, serving carts, and workstations


* Maintain sanitizer solutions and follow infection control procedures


* Assist with meal service as needed


* Help ensure all cleaning schedules are completed


* Communicate resident concerns and dietary issues to nursing and leadership


* Assist with training dietary staff and provide leadership in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor

Qualifications


* High school diploma or equivalent


* Minimum 1 year of cooking experience in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, healthcare, or long-term care setting preferred


* Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistency


* Knowledge of therapeutic and special diets preferred


* Ability to read recipes, menus, and written instructions


* Strong organizational and time management skills


* Excellent teamwork and communication skills


* Ability to work independently and supervise kitchen operations when needed

Preferred Qualifications


* Current or ability to obtain ServSafe Certification


* Experience with PCC (PointClickCare) preferred


* Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health
