CAD Engineer - Titanium Aerospace Manufacturing (Albany, OR)

Primary Purpose:
Under the supervision of the CAD Services/Tooling Manager, the CAD Engineer provides engineering support to Project Engineering, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing through the design, development, and implementation of CAD models, tooling, and manufacturing solutions.

The position works closely with internal stakeholders and external tooling vendors to support new tooling, tool reworks, tooling inventory management, and continuous improvement efforts that enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.

The CAD Engineer also develops final tool build models for new wax pattern die tool packages, ensuring manufacturability and conformance to engineering and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:


* Be accountable for working safely by following all safety rules and safe work practices.


* Create complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings to design fixturing used for casting production.

Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to optimize designs for ergonomics, ease of use and cost to manufacture.


* Use CAD software to generate work instruction graphics, extract engineering data from customer models, and support Model-Based Definition (MBD) manufacturing processes.


* Coordinate tooling projects with external vendors by developing RFQ packages, reviewing quotations, tracking schedules, and communicating project status to internal stakeholders.


* Maintain tooling records and inventory databases to ensure accurate tracking of new tooling, revisions, repairs, and engineering changes.


* Interpret customer models, engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications to design tooling, fixtures, and inspection solutions.


* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling standardization, CAD best practices, manufacturing efficiency, and cost reduction.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


* HS diploma or equivalent GED required, but candidates not meeting this requirement who possesses relevant experience will be considered.


* Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Self-driven and highly motivated- ability to organize and schedule work effectively, meeting timeline and schedule requirements.


* Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, customer specifications, and GD&T.


* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering software.
