Job Summary

Conducts preliminary and comprehensive environmental field inspections of commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial enterprises including asbestos abatement, demolition projects and other situations to ensure enforcement and compliance with County, State, and Federal laws and regulations.

Prepares technical reports of the site and/or facility.

Cites violators and provides technical environmental assistance to the general public.

Completes training and obtains certification and licensing required to fulfill the required duties of the position.

Assists with the training of new environmental engineer personnel relative to the policies and procedures of the department.

Minimum Qualifications



* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Industrial Technology; Public Health; Environmental Planning; Environmental Policy; Environmental Health; Environmental Management; Science; or Natural Resources, Mathematics, or Information Technology AND


* Two (2) years full-time work experience in the environmental and sustainability.


* Must possess a valid driver's license and current proof of insurance.

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS


* Ability to research, interpret, and explain environmental regulations at the county, state, and federal (OSHA, AHERA, CAA/NESHAP, TSCA, RCRA) levels.


* Knowledge of air pollution emissions and industrial processes (including combustion), basic knowledge of construction principles and pollution control devices.
