EHS Specialists (Startup and Validation) (Field Based)

ERM is seeking motivated EHS Specialists (Startup and Validation) to join our team, providing onsite support for a leading pharmaceutical client’s new API facility in Lebanon, IN.

This role offers an opportunity to work hands-on in a fast-paced operational readiness environment, supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance during startup and equipment validation activities.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) limited-term role, with a duration of 36 months.

Project start anticipated in June 2026.

 

Responsibilities


* Provide day-to-day EHS oversight during system startup and validation activities.


* Conduct field observations to ensure compliance with safety procedures and hazard controls.


* Support implementation and review of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and perform spot checks.


* Participate in Pre-Startup Environmental Reviews (PSERs), Pre-Functional Testing Safety Reviews (PFTSRs), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).


* Review and support approval of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and work permits.


* Attend daily coordination and safety meetings to represent EHS in work planning.


* Monitor contractor and employee safety performance and document observations.


* Support incident reporting and assist with corrective and preventive actions.


* Maintain accurate records of EHS inspections, permits, and safety documentation.


* Collaborate with EHS Managers and Team Leaders to drive continuous improvement in safety culture.

Requirements


* Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field; equivalent experience considered.


* Minimum 2–5 years of relevant EHS experience in construction, commissioning, or manufacturing environments.


* OSHA 30-hour Construction or General Industry certification required.


* First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.


* Working familiarity with LOTO programs, permit systems, and hazard assessment processes.


* Strong observation and communication skills; ability to work proactively in the field environment.


* Full-time on-site role; flexibility for extended or weekend hours as startup activities ramp up.
