Accounting Generalist
Position Summary
The Accounting Generalist is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with various accounting functions.
This role performs a portion of the accounts payable process while also supporting account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, reporting, and other administrative accounting duties.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Process assigned accounts payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, data entry, and payment preparation.
* Verify invoices for accuracy and proper approvals before processing.
* Assist with vendor statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
* Maintain vendor records and support vendor communications regarding payment inquiries.
* Prepare and post journal entries as assigned.
* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
* Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
* Maintain accurate accounting records and support documentation.
* Assist with financial reporting and audit requests.
* Monitor compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
* Collaborate with internal departments and team members to support accounting operations.
* Provide administrative support to the accounting department as needed.
* Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Education and Experience
* Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
* Minimum of 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts payable experience preferred.
* Experience working with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Understanding basic accounting principles and practices.
* Knowledge of accounts payable processes and internal controls.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an office setting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis functions.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
* Ability to occasionally lift and move files, office supplies, or accounting records up to 20 pounds.
* Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
Work Environment
* This position is a fully on-site role and requires daily attendance at the company's office location.
