Project Assistant - YOLA National Festival

Position Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Salary: Hourly, $20/hr (overtime with pre-approval)

YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) provides equitable access to high-quality music education for young people across Los Angeles, supporting their artistic growth and community impact.

About the YOLA National Festival (YNF)

The YOLA National Festival is an intensive summer orchestra program serving young musicians ages 12-18 from across the United States, combining artistic excellence with community and youth development.

Position Summary

The Project Assistant is a seasonal, part-time position supporting the planning and execution of the YOLA National Festival.

Project Assistants work closely with festival leadership to support daily operations, logistics, and student experience, ensuring a safe, organized, and positive environment for all participants.

Dates & Commitment

• Optional Prep/Inventory: July 27-30, 2026
• Mandatory Training: July 31-August 2, 2026
• Festival Dates: August 5-13, 2026
• Full availability required, including long shifts (8-12 hours/day).

Location & Housing

Occidental College, Los Angeles, CA.

On-site dorm-style housing provided.

Shared rooms, Wi-Fi, and parking included.

Meals

Meals provided on-site from July 31 through August 11, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

Dietary needs accommodated.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Supervision:
• Support supervision of festival participants
• Assist with student activities and well-being
• Serve as a supportive and empathetic presence

Operations & Logistics:
• Assist with festival operations and production
• Support daily schedules, transitions, and logistics
• Help distribute schedules and key information

Meals & Daily Flow:
• Support meal service and transitions
• Monitor snack breaks and dining logistics

Safety:
• Support safety and security protocols
• Uphold YOLA policies and community expectations

Off-site Activities:
• Chaperone field trips and transportation

General:
• Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
