Manager Supply Chain
Job Summary:
The Manager Supply Chain is responsible for the strategic, tactical and operational activities to achieve a value-added supply chain responsive to program requirements.
Activities include supply / demand management of purchased components, planning, sourcing, procurement and collaboration with suppliers and internal customers to drive out unnecessary costs and inefficiencies.
The manager facilitates the management of relationships with major suppliers for the acquisition of quality assured commodities and works closely with the Operations team.
The manager will implement appropriate sourcing strategies to control the company's purchased material costs and to assure an adequate source of supply will be provided while managing and optimizing supplier performance; including continuous improvement, innovations, obsolescence and reduction in total cost of ownership.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
• Ensures that item master and item supplier information (item planning and ordering attributes, lead times, sourcing) is up-to-date in ERP system.
• Support required inputs for material kick-offs led by Master Production Scheduling.
• Ensures inventory investment is minimized and material service is attained by using recommendations primarily from MRP on what to order, when to order, when to schedule delivery and when to reschedule / cancel.
• Ensure non-MRP driven procurement like life-time buys are accompanied by signatory approval and properly accounted (unique project and warehouse).
• Ensure open purchase orders reflect current commitments by suppliers.
• Provide inputs to Engineering on break-in of configuration changes (deletions / additions) to minimize cost / schedule impact through CCB participation, diminishing manufacturing sources risk / mitigation through DMS Council participation, corrections needed in PLM via RT Tracker system for items (commodity code, QVL, DMS flag) and where-used assemblies (QPA).
• Assure ECO inventory disposition decisions are implemented in a timely manner (scrap, rework).
• Address unplanned demand (2nd issues, scrap replacement) with Manufacturing (resolve cause if possible and for unresolved, mitigate risk of stock-outs via attrition planning).
• Assure active involvement with Manufacturing and Warehousing to monitor / manage inventory of floor stock items to assure no stock-outs (actual consumption not consistent with BOM planned consumption, many are time-sensitive).
• Manage the process for commodity buyer/planner staff.
• Facilitate the management of relationships with major suppliers for timely performance of the procurement process in the acquisition of quality assured commodities.
• Works under the direction of the Sr.
Manager, Supply Chain in the preparation and execution of contract mechanisms, including purchase orders and major framework agreements with suppliers.
