PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Peninsula Post Acute is seeking a compassionate and motivated PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced therapists in a collaborative skilled nursing environment dedicated to helping residents achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life.

Compensation: $48-$52 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)

Position Summary

The Staff Occupational Therapy Assistant assists the Occupational Therapist with resident-related activities and provides direct resident care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


* Provide occupational therapy treatments to residents as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.


* Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility policies, governmental regulations, and third-party payer requirements.


* Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control procedures, safety standards, and equipment maintenance protocols.


* Participate in Resident Care Conferences and Rehabilitation Department meetings as needed.


* Assist the nursing department with training and support of Restorative Aides.


* Communicate regularly with the supervising Occupational Therapist to ensure timely updates regarding resident progress, goals, treatment plans, and discharge recommendations.


* Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families regarding care and rehabilitation outcomes.


* Provide in-service education and training programs for facility staff as needed.


* Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, maintenance programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention strategies.


* Recommend and facilitate ordering of durable medical equipment and adaptive devices to promote resident independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), including adaptive equipment, splints, assistive devices, elevated toilet seats, and grab bars.


* Maintain confidentiality of resident information and company records in accordance with applicable regulations and policies.


* Report equipment issues promptly to ensure all rehabilitation equipment remains in safe working condition.


* Contribute to quality assurance initiatives, performance improvement programs, and rehabilitation department development activities.


* Foster positive, professional relationships with residents, families, staff, and healthcare colleagues.

Qualifications


* Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the State of California.


* Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.


* Current CPR certification preferred.
