Moraga Post Acute is seeking a dependable and experienced Dietary Cook to join our dietary services team.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious, delicious, and properly prepared meals that support their health and well-being.

Position Summary

As a Dietary Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with physician-prescribed diets, established menus, and food safety standards.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing high-quality service in a healthcare environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities


* Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements


* Ensure meals are prepared in compliance with physician orders and specialized diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets


* Follow portion control guidelines and food presentation standards


* Maintain proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices in accordance with state and federal regulations


* Monitor, record, and maintain food temperatures to ensure food safety compliance


* Assist with tray assembly and meal service as needed


* Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, food preparation areas, and workstations


* Work closely with dietary staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely meal service


* Assist with inventory control, stock rotation, and supply management


* Adhere to infection control, workplace safety, and department policies and procedures

Qualifications


* High school diploma or equivalent preferred


* Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or food service setting required


* Knowledge of dietary restrictions, therapeutic diets, and food safety regulations


* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment


* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail


* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities


* Food Handler's Certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire
