Data Scientist Lead

As a Data Scientist Lead in Home Lending Data & Analytics (Originations Product Team), you will translate complex data into actionable business insights that improve efficiency and customer experience.
You will operate as a consulting-style partner-framing ambiguous problems, aligning stakeholders, and delivering clear narratives that support decision-making across technical and non-technical audiences.
You will also help strengthen our team's impact by mentoring others and fostering a culture of innovation and results.
Job responsibilities
* Identify obstacles to business goals and solve them using advanced analytics and data science methods.
* Quantify opportunities and tradeoffs to guide prioritization and decision-making.
* Recognize meaningful trends and patterns in data and communicate them in clear, compelling narratives.
* Serve as a data expert and consultant to the predictive modeling team by identifying and validating data sources.
* Advise business and technology partners on data-driven opportunities to improve efficiency and customer experience.
* Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Technology, Finance, Marketing) to gather requirements and context.
* Extract and analyze data from multiple sources using complex Structured Query Language (SQL) queries.
* Synthesize findings with strong data support and deliver insights with quick turnaround.
* Tailor messages and materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Mentor junior team members and influence leaders to advance strategic initiatives.
* Foster a culture of innovation, attention to detail, and results.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* At least 6 years of experience in business strategy, analytics, or data science.
* At least 2 years of experience in business management consulting.
* Strong experience writing queries and procedures in Structured Query Language (SQL).
* Proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, SAS, R, or Alteryx.
* Demonstrated ability to craft compelling stories from data and present insights that influence decisions.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
* Strong critical and analytical thinking skills, balancing attention to detail with big-picture context.
