Dispatcher — Lead Real-Time Trucking Operations!

SUMMARY

As a Dispatcher at Armstrong, you will be the primary point-of-contact for company and contract drivers, playing a crucial role in on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.

We’re seeking an experienced truck dispatcher with a strong background in commercial and household goods, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to multi‑task and perform under pressure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


* Partner with Planners to develop efficient driver routes and schedules for commercial and household goods.


* Dispatch and coordinate company and contract drivers in real time; offer routing options to maximize productivity and on‑time performance.


* Locate and assign available agents and labor resources for incoming shipments and special-handling requests.


* Communicate with customers and coordinators to confirm pickup/delivery details, special requirements, and service expectations.


* Prepare and maintain dispatch documentation, and generate freight bills and invoices accurately and on time.


* Maintain detailed logs of dispatched calls, route changes, arrivals, pickups, and deliveries.


* Monitor truck repairs and maintenance schedules; log customer shipping schedules and record complaints for follow-up.


* Work with the Agency Safety Rep to ensure driver compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and accurate driver logs.


* Proactively troubleshoot delays, breakdowns, or service exceptions and escalate when necessary.


* Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


* High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Transportation/Logistics preferred.


* 2–3+ years of truck dispatch experience, ideally with both commercial and household goods.


* Demonstrated ability to create efficient routes, schedule drivers, and manage multiple operations simultaneously.


* Strong customer service experience and proven ability to generate accurate freight bills and invoices.


* Experience with Transportation Management Software (TMS) and GPS/tracking systems.


* Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.


* Solid working knowledge of DOT regulations, safety requirements, and industry best practices.
