Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist (Field Based)

ERM is hiring an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to work onsite 3 consecutive days per week at a key clients’ facility in South Hill, Virginia.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of technical capability and deep understanding of regulations, as well as business processes to help our client proactively address their EHS risks and challenges.  This is a part-time (24+ hours per week) limited-term role, with a duration of 3 months, extendable.

 

Responsibilities:


* Provide on-site environmental, health and safety support at client facilities such as training, review of change requests, incident investigations, hazard reviews, and complete required environmental inspections.


* Prepare technical reports and other deliverables.


* Achieve client’s expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.


* Assist in the development of solutions to technical and regulatory issues and concerns.


* Review compliance against corporate EH&S strategies and programs, compliance auditing, management systems, training, and general compliance support.


* Support, as needed, environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance, environmental management system, sustainability, environmental compliance programs, contingency plans, multi-media permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater.

 

Requirements:


* BS/MS in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related science degree preferred.


* Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in working with significant industrial clients on regulatory compliance and sustainable EH&S compliance programs, with emphasis on the manufacturing, pharma, chemical and hi-tech sectors.


* Certification in field; CHST, CSP, CIH, PE, or similar registration is desirable but not required.


* Experience with LOTO, machine guarding and design reviews is required.


* Passionate about EHS performance improvement with substantial experience with practical implementation.


* Solid understanding of the relevant local, state, and federal regulations and how they apply to heavy industry.



* Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively.


* Local candidates preferred.

Per-diem will be provided for out of area candidates.

Pay Transparency: 

For the XXX position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $X – $Y, $X/hr – $Y/hr USD/CAD, limited-term, non-exempt.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.  This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce...
