Position: Guest Lecturer - Artist Teacher of French Horn

The Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College (Illinois) invites applications for a part-time guest lecturer position in French Horn beginning in August 2026.

Responsibilities include teaching applied French Horn lessons and studio classes, recruitment and offering of "trial lessons," as well as adjudicating Horn auditions and performance juries.

The position starts at $60-$65/hour.

All candidates should have evidence of successful applied teaching experience and a minimum of an earned master's degree in music.

Priority will be given to applicants with a record of strong teaching, accomplished performance, and Christian faith.

Position Responsibilities: Guest Lecturer - Artist Teacher of Horn

Responsibilities


* Teach weekly horn lessons to undergraduate music majors, music minors, and/or non-majors.


* Hold studio classes.


* Mentor and prepare students for juries, competitions, graduate school auditions, etc.


* Actively recruit by engaging with high school programs, youth orchestras, festivals, and clinics.


* Coach orchestra horn.


* Coach chamber music as needed.


* Adjudicate performance juries and orchestra auditions.

Minimum qualifications


* Master of Music


* 3+ years of studio teaching experience

Preferred qualifications


* College-level horn teaching experience


* Doctor of Musical Arts degree
