Analytical Scientist

If so, we want to speak with you!We are actively recruiting for an Analytical Scientist to join our team in Richmond, VA.As an Analytical Scientist you will be responsible for analytical testing and reporting on the properties of materials, processes and products for the Altria family of companies.

In addition, the successful candidate will independently apply scientific and engineering principles to solve challenging problems and deliver high quality services to achieve business goals, with applications that will span the entire product development process, from feasibility, development, manufacturing, to regulatory reporting.
What you'll be doing: • Performing product and material analyses in a laboratory setting on a wide range of sample types utilizing multiple techniques and instrumentation • Maintaining and managing the appropriate documentation to be compliant with Quality Systems and Records Management policies • Providing support to category leaders, senior scientists, product developers and factory personnel to achieve department and company initiatives • Leveraging broad range of analytical approaches to develop solutions to complex technical problems where few precedents exist • Participating in scientific meetings both internal and external to maintain and expand scientific expertise • Participating on cross-functional teams representing the analytical department What we want you to have:


* Bachelor of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field


* At least 1 year of experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory, 3+ years' experience working with tobacco and tobacco products preferred


* Familiarity with techniques such as GCMS, FTIR, NIR, Raman, XRF, wet chemistry.

A general knowledge of physical / thermal / moisture characterization approaches is a plus


* Experience working in a regulated industry and familiarity with quality lab operations and quality systems such as ISO 17025, or ISO 9001 desired


* Proficiency in laboratory skills, and operating / maintaining analytical testing equipment


* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, multi-task, and be a strong team player


* Excellent attention to detail, verbal, and written communication skills

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions.

The Salary Range for this position is: $80,800.00 - $118,750.00.
