High Speed Shock/Droplet Aerobreakup Researcher

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Researcher to utilize the NGA2 computational suite to investigate and model high-speed shock/droplet interactions and aerobreakup phenomena.

This fixed-term role focuses on advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphase flow physics, and high-fidelity simulation of extreme flow environments relevant to aerospace, defense, and high-speed aerothermodynamics applications.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop, configure, and execute simulations using the NGA2 computational framework to study shock/droplet interaction dynamics.

* Model aerobreakup processes under high-speed compressible flow conditions.

* Analyze multiphase flow behavior, including droplet deformation, fragmentation, and post-breakup dynamics.

* Validate computational results against experimental data and benchmark cases.

* Develop post-processing workflows for extracting physical insights from large-scale simulation datasets.

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in computational physics, applied mathematics, and aerospace engineering.

* Contribute to the advancement and optimization of numerical methods within the NGA2 suite.

* Document methodologies, simulation setups, and research findings in technical reports and publications.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and multiphase flow simulations.

* Familiarity with high-speed compressible flow and shock physics.

* Experience using high-performance computing (HPC) environments and scientific computing tools.

* Prior experience with the NGA2 computational framework or similar CFD software is preferred.

* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

* Master’s or Ph.D.

in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
