Job Overview

We are seeking a Full‑Time Charge Nurse (RN) to join the Acute Care Medicine unit in Augusta, Georgia.

This night shift leadership role is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast‑paced acute care setting and is passionate about clinical excellence, team leadership, and patient‑centered care.

As a Charge Nurse, you will serve as a key clinical and operational leader, supporting nursing staff, coordinating patient flow, and ensuring safe, high‑quality care across the unit.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Care Coordination


* Monitor, assess, and evaluate patient conditions in an acute care environment


* Assist with care planning and take appropriate action to support short‑ and long‑term patient outcomes


* Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care using independent clinical judgment


* Coordinate daily patient flow and communicate care plans with interdisciplinary teams


* Ensure timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes

Charge Nurse & Leadership Functions


* Provide frontline leadership and clinical support to nursing staff during assigned shifts


* Foster teamwork and a positive, supportive work environment


* Mentor, coach, and precept nurses to support professional growth and unit success


* Promote accountability, professionalism, and shared governance principles


* Support unit operations and assist with staffing and workflow coordination as needed

Patient Advocacy & Experience


* Serve as an intermediary between patients, families, providers, and care teams


* Address patient and family concerns promptly and effectively


* Promote patient‑ and family‑centered care while maintaining confidentiality standards

Quality & Performance Improvement


* Participate in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives


* Contribute ideas to improve workflows, care delivery, and outcomes


* Support initiatives aligned with quality, satisfaction, and organizational goals

Professional Practice


* Maintain RN licensure and required certifications


* Complete ongoing education and required training


* Adhere to all system policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Staffing & Support Structure


* Typically staffed with 7 Registered Nurses per shift


* Nurse‑to‑patient ratio averages 1:5–6, supporting safe, high‑quality care


* 3–4 Care Partners provide direct patient support


* Leadership team includes 1 Nurse Manager, 2 Assistant Nurse Managers, and 1 Clinical Outcomes Manager


* Additional support includes 2 Mobility Technicians and 1 dedicated Phlebotomist (5:00 a.m.

– 5:00 p.m.)
