Job Overview

We are seeking a Part‑Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join the 4E Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) in Augusta, Georgia.

This role offers the opportunity to provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing continuous neurological and seizure monitoring in a collaborative, academic medical center environment.

Nurses are supported as clinical professionals and patient advocates, practicing in a culture grounded in compassion, excellence, shared governance, and professional growth.

Our Neuroscience unit is a Comprehensive Stroke Center and 16‑bed acute care unit specializing in the treatment of adult patients (ages 16+) with neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses.

The unit supports a high‑acuity patient population that demands vigilant monitoring, sound clinical decision‑making, and seamless interdisciplinary teamwork.

Current staffing needs are greatest on the PM shift.

Nurses typically maintain a 1:4 patient ratio, with the ability to expand to 1:5 based on patient acuity and clinical appropriateness.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Care Coordination


* Monitor, assess, and evaluate patient conditions


* Assist with the development and implementation of individualized nursing care plans


* Apply independent clinical judgment in delivering safe, effective patient care


* Collaborate and communicate care plans with physicians and interdisciplinary teams


* Prioritize daily patient flow and overall patient experience


* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, care delivered, education, and outcomes

Patient Advocacy & Experience


* Serve as a primary liaison between patients, families, providers, and care teams


* Respond to patient and family concerns in a timely, supportive manner


* Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and care processes


* Promote patient‑ and family‑centered care while maintaining confidentiality standards

Quality & Performance Improvement


* Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives


* Contribute ideas to enhance workflows, processes, and patient outcomes


* Support initiatives focused on patient safety, satisfaction, and organizational performance

Professional Competency, Growth & Leadership


* Maintain RN licensure and required certifications


* Complete ongoing education and required training


* Participate in professional organizations and remain current with best practices


* Mentor and precept new nurses and contribute to a positive work environment


* Support shared governance through council participation or sponsored activities


* Comply with all system policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
