Registered Nurse (RN) – Neurology – Night Shift
Location: Augusta, Georgia 
Schedule: Full‑Time | Night Shift

Job Overview

We are seeking a Full‑Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Neurology.

This night shift RN role is ideal for nurses passionate about neurology, patient advocacy, and collaborative care in a leading academic medical environment.

Nurses are valued as clinical leaders and integral members of the care team, supported by shared governance, professional development opportunities, and a mission-driven culture focused on excellence and compassion.

Neuroscience is a Comprehensive Stroke Center and 16‑bed acute care unit specializing in the treatment of adult patients (ages 16+) with neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses.

The unit supports a high‑acuity patient population that demands vigilant monitoring, sound clinical decision‑making, and seamless interdisciplinary teamwork.

Current staffing needs are greatest on the PM shift.

Nurses typically maintain a 1:4 patient ratio, with the ability to expand to 1:5 based on patient acuity and clinical appropriateness.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Care Coordination


* Assess, monitor, and evaluate neurological patients’ conditions


* Develop and deliver individualized nursing care plans


* Apply independent clinical judgment while adhering to evidence‑based practice


* Coordinate care and communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams


* Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

Patient Advocacy & Experience


* Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and families


* Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and care plans


* Promote patient‑ and family‑centered care to enhance satisfaction and outcomes


* Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all patient privacy standards

Quality & Performance Improvement


* Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives


* Support initiatives that improve clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and staff engagement


* Contribute ideas to enhance workflow, care delivery, and the work environment

Professional Development & Leadership


* Maintain RN licensure and required certifications


* Participate in ongoing education, training, and professional growth opportunities


* Mentor and precept new nurses and contribute to a positive team culture


* Support shared governance through council participation or sponsored activities

Required Qualifications

Education


* Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma (Required)


* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred)

Licenses & Certifications (Required upon Hire)


* Active RN License (Georgia or Compact / Multistate)


* BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross)
