Key Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will deliver advanced respiratory care to complex, critically ill patients while exercising independent clinical judgment.

Patient Care & Clinical Functions


* Perform comprehensive patient assessments and evaluate‑and‑treat respiratory therapy plans


* Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, bronchial hygiene, and medical gas therapy


* Manage ventilators including weaning, waveform interpretation, and protocol‑based adjustments


* Perform airway management procedures (intubation, extubation, trach care and changes)


* Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs)


* Assist with invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac services, and pulmonary diagnostics (location‑specific)

Team & Education


* Educate patients and families on respiratory care


* Precept and mentor new employees, students, and peers


* Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams

Quality & Safety


* Maintain accurate electronic documentation, orders, and charging


* Promote patient safety, evidence‑based practice, and performance improvement initiatives


* Comply with all policies, standards of work, and professional code of conduct

Required Qualifications

Education


* Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (Required)


* Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy (Preferred)

Licensure & Certifications (Required upon hire)


* NBRC – Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)


* Georgia Respiratory Care Professional (RCP)


* BLS – Basic Life Support


* ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Experience


* 0–2 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience


* Minimum 6 months of critical care experience required

* Strong critical thinking and clinical decision‑making


* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


* Ability to work independently in high‑acuity environments


* Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
