Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Part-Time Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT II) to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
This role delivers advanced respiratory care in high-acuity critical care environments, utilizing protocol-driven ventilator management, independent clinical judgment, and the evaluate-and-treat process.
The RRT II provides comprehensive, population-specific respiratory care for neonatal patients while supporting patient-family education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities
NICU & Critical Care Patient Support
* Deliver advanced respiratory therapy for neonatal and critical care patients
* Perform ventilator management, weaning, and waveform interpretation
* Manage airway care including intubation, extubation, and tracheostomy care
* Administer aerosolized medications, bronchial hygiene, oxygen, and medical gas therapy
* Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis
* Assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiac services, and pulmonary diagnostics (location-specific)
Care Coordination & Education
* Collaborate with neonatologists, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams
* Educate patients’ families and support systems
* Mentor and precept new employees, students, and peers
* Participate in professional development and staff education initiatives
Quality, Safety & Compliance
* Maintain accurate electronic documentation, orders, and charging
* Promote patient safety, medication safety, and NPSG standards
* Support performance improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
* Review and comply with departmental policies and procedures
* Adhere to all our standards and code of conduct
Required Education
* Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
* Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy – Preferred
Required Licensure & Certifications
(All required upon hire unless otherwise stated)
* NBRC – Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
* Georgia Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) License
* BLS – Basic Life Support
* ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support
* PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support
* NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program
(Instructor or Provisional accepted; Provisional must be completed within 180 days)
Required Experience
* 0–2 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience
* Minimum 6 months of critical care experience required
* NICU experience required
