Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the night shift.

This leadership role is responsible for coordinating shift operations, delivering high-quality respiratory care, supporting staff development, and promoting safety, quality, and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Shift Oversight


* Lead and coordinate respiratory care services for assigned night shift


* Assign patient workloads based on acuity and staff competency


* Serve as a clinical resource for RT staff, physicians, patients, and families


* May carry a patient assignment as needed


* Ensure daily equipment functionality, availability, and calibration


* Maintain productivity and financial stewardship for the shift

Team Development & Collaboration


* Facilitate onboarding, orientation, and precepting of new staff and students


* Assist with annual competencies and ongoing staff education


* Support interdisciplinary communication to ensure timely care and discharge planning


* Provide feedback to leadership on staff performance and teamwork

Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement


* Round on patients to evaluate quality and appropriateness of care


* Participate in Performance Improvement (PI), safety, and patient experience initiatives


* Collect and analyze PI data as needed


* Promote evidence-based respiratory care practices

Required Qualifications

Education


* Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy
OR


* 100 credit hours toward a BS degree may be accepted

Licensure & Certifications


* Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)


* Georgia Respiratory Care Professional License


* BLS (Basic Life Support)


* Advanced credential required (one of the following):
+ ACCS – Adult Critical Care Specialist
+ NPS – Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist
+ AE‑C – Asthma Educator Specialist
+ RPFT – Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist

Additional Certifications (within 180 days of hire):


* ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)


* PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)


* NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – preferred

Experience Requirements


* Minimum 2 years of critical care respiratory therapy experience


* Experience across high-acuity areas including NICU, ICU, CVICU, ED, and other critical care settings
